Maria J. Marti: leading ZeroError with innovation & precision

Maria J. Marti is the founder and CEO of ZeroError, a New York-based artificial intelligence company specialising in data quality. She is an engineer with over 20 years of executive experience in Fortune 100 companies, having worked in the US as CFO and CRO of key divisions, such as American Express and MetLife, and in consulting executive positions for CEOs and boards of directors. Maria has a strong background in supply chain and operations and worked at Accenture in Barcelona and Chicago, implementing SAP APO and BW for over 6 years. She studied Industrial Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Barcelona and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

I met Maria in pavilion 5 of the Mobile World Congress, where there was a ZeroError stand. ZeroError is a start-up that deals with data, which is fundamental for any type of company, as Maria explained to us because decision-making requires reliable and timely data. Traditional methods help to obtain clear and effective information, which can be used to establish the next steps for your company, but there is the problem of time.

To be competitive in an increasingly global market, you have to get there before the others. This is the advantage that, as Maria explained, her start-up can guarantee with a tool that, in a few minutes, can assure business leaders whether they can trust a report. It’s no coincidence that the founder summarises the ZeroError mission in a few simple words: ‘It’s the solution that I would have needed during my career but that was never available to me’.

As well as how, when, and why Maria had the idea of leaving a secure and well-paid job in a large company to set up on her own, I asked the founder of ZeroError for some advice for young people who want to start a start-up. Because many have good ideas but without experience, money and knowledge of the sector, they often tend to give up on their project. I was also struck by a concept that Maria insisted on many times during the interview regarding the training of young people and the importance of education.
