Meet the Talent: Giulia Vittoria Cimbali, PR Manager Xiaomi

Place of residence: Milan, Italy

Position: Public Relations Manager Xiaomi Italy

How many projects are you currently working on?

Over the years, I’ve learned that in the life of a PR professional, especially in the tech sector, there’s a mix of predictable and unpredictable projects. The dynamism of the industry is so intense—which is what makes this job even more exciting and interesting—that you can always expect something new. As for the predictable projects, a key event will definitely take place in Barcelona in March. I can’t reveal much more at the moment, but 2025 is sure to be a year filled with exciting news.

In your opinion, who is the most influential person or company in technology today, and if you could choose one app, product, or project to have been involved in, which would it be and why?

I believe companies leading in sustainability and technological integration are shaping the future of the industry. The topic of Artificial Intelligence is gaining more and more visibility; however, it is still often perceived as something separate from our daily lives. I recently heard in a documentary that artificial intelligence is considered such only until it has a concrete application and becomes part of everyday use—then it gets other names. AI, in fact, is present in many aspects of our lives, far more than we imagine, and this is a realization we will increasingly come to understand over time.

If I could choose one project, it would be the development of an innovative platform that integrates AI with everyday tools, simplifying life and empowering users globally. Such projects represent a harmonious blend of creativity, practicality, and a positive impact on both the environment and society.

How do you see technology evolving in the next ten years?

Over the next decade, I envision technology becoming more integrated into daily life through AI, augmented reality, and wearable devices. Sustainability will also play a pivotal role, with companies focusing on eco-friendly innovations and circular economies. Most importantly, I hope technology will close digital divides, making advanced tools accessible to all to make life easier, streamline time-consuming processes and enable people to enjoy more leisure time and a higher quality of life in a highly conscious manner.

What is the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your career?

The pandemic was undoubtedly one of the most challenging periods. It not only changed consumer habits but also amplified the potential of technology in unprecedented ways. From a communication standpoint, we had to shift entirely to virtual formats, overcoming the absence of physical events while ensuring impactful engagement. It was a moment that demonstrated the resilience and adaptability of both technology and the people behind it.

What is your next goal?

I’m used to focusing on short-term goals, and one of them is certainly continuing to elevate Xiaomi’s visibility and presence in the Italian market by creating campaigns that not only promote our products but also inspire communities. The March event will undoubtedly be important and represents the next milestone in this regard.

On a personal level, challenging myself and tackling new obstacles has always been part of both my nature and my present and future goals.

If you could speak to your younger self, what advice would you give, and how does it relate to the dreams you had as a child about creating, inventing, or doing something special?

I would tell my younger self to embrace curiosity and take risks, even if the path feels uncertain. As a child, I always thought about what I was supposed to do rather than what I truly wanted to do. Over time, I fortunately learned to follow my instincts as well. So, a piece of advice I would give myself is to go for it if my instincts tell me it’s the right thing to do.

Today, I see my role in shaping narratives and driving innovation as a way of fulfilling my dreams in a unique way, with a blend of rationality and intuition.

Which famous person would you like to have dinner with and why?

As a lover of Italian literature, if I could choose one person to have dinner with, it would undoubtedly be Erri De Luca. Although he is outside the world of technology, he is a figure who has navigated and interpreted significant changes throughout his life, adapting each time and finding a unique way to share them with the world.

His ability to transform complex experiences into stories filled with emotion and sensitivity is a great source of inspiration for me. He reminds me of how important it is to look at the world with open, emotional, and sensitive eyes—even in the context of my work.

Where would you like to travel next?

Japan is at the top of my list! It’s a perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and rich tradition. I’d love to explore how Japanese culture influences their approach to innovation.

What advice do you give to young girls who want to follow similar careers?

Never doubt your abilities or let stereotypes hold you back. Be curious, embrace continuous learning, and don’t be afraid to take the lead in male-dominated spaces. Passion and perseverance can open any door. The most important thing is to believe in your abilities, but above all, to always allow yourself the possibility of making mistakes, seeing failures as opportunities for growth.
