Meet the talent: Filippo Rocca, Ceo and Co-founder of Subbyx
Place of residence: Milan
Position: CEO and Co-founder of Subbyx
How many projects are you currently working on? Please describe them
My main focus at the moment is Subbyx, which I founded in 2023. It is an innovative startup that enables flexible, simple, and sustainable subscriptions for tech products, giving users the freedom to upgrade, switch, or cancel at any time—without commitments or constraints. We are really scaling and speeding up fast! We are currently working on four parallel projects.
Completely restructuring our website with a new UX and UI to improve acquisition and management of our B2C clients, acquiring new partners for B2B2C growth, giving them a wider range of options to onboard customers by expanding our physical catalogue while at the same time adding new services. Improving our B2B interface to better manage our clients: we now have more than 150 companies trusting Subbyx for their devices. We will soon launch a new business unit to give the possibility to merchants to transform their business into a subscription offer without any IT development, It’s pretty amazing.
In your opinion, who is the most influential person or company in technology today, and if you could choose one app, product, or project to have been involved in, which would it be and why?
Well, it’s a tough choice; there are so many cool companies and incredibly talented people, and it’s hard to narrow it down to just one. But if I had to choose, I’d go with Sam Altman. With OpenAI, he’s paved and shaped the future of technology, making AI an integral part of our lives, whether we like it or not.
How do you see technology evolving in the next ten years?
Considering the hype and the huge investments every company and fund is putting on AI, I think we’ll use AI interface to communicate and give instructions, from simple tasks to even more complex ones. a. As Nadella said, the future of SaaS is at risk if you are able to instruct an AI agent to create and customize workflows.

What is the most challenging aspect you have had to face during your career and for the foundation of Subbyx?
Raising money. With my previous startup, it was particularly difficult because I didn’t have a network yet. We had to prove that our technology could work and that we had a potential market, and we faced so many challenges, losing the faith of investors and even part of the team. In fact, we lost half of it, and we had to restructure it; we even had to pivot from our initial business model. But in the end, it worked out very well. Even now, with Subbyx, the vision and the market fit were clear, at least for me, but convincing people to trust you to develop a new business in 2023, especially one reliant on capital, was challenging!
You have just closed a major financing round. What is your next goal?
Simple, keep growing at this pace :).
If you could speak to your younger self, what advice would you give, and how does it relate to the dreams you had as a child about creating, inventing, or doing something special?
Honestly, I’ve never spent much time thinking about what I would have done differently—I focus on the present. Of course, I try to learn from my mistakes, as everybody does, but what’s done is done. I even think that if I had done things differently, the challenges would have been different as well, and I’ve learned a lot from them, so I am not really sure I would like to change the past. I like the outcome so far!
Which famous person would you like to have dinner with and why?
Easy, Steve Jobs: I think he has been the most influential and brightest entrepreneur. I’d have loved to chat with him to understand how he saw things.
Where would you like to travel next?
I would love to go hiking in South America; Patagonia is my dream!
What tips do you have for people wanting to start in the tech world?
Be stubborn and believe in your ideas. Everybody will tell you how to do stuff, how you are supposed to think, develop, move, speak – but nobody has a secret recipe, not even successful entrepreneurs. Every story is different. Play your story, and be satisfied with how you’ve played it. In the end, if you believe and if you truly give everything, I am confident you’ll make it and make it! But there’s one thing I’m absolutely sure of: you can’t do it alone. Nobody can create or build something alone, surround yourself with a talented team that believes in your vision!
