Place of residence: Fuengirola, Malaga, Spain
Position: Founder Costa Women, Business Growth Coach
Please describe a day in your life
My days are completely different, so I don’t really describe a typical day. Supporting a community of 13,500 Women who live all over Spain or are planning on making the move can bring different things to celebrate and challenges to face. We host about 20 events per month in different geographical locations and online events, and I try to attend as many of the Business events as possible. Our Business Growth Mastermind also holds five monthly online events, and I offer 1-2-1 Business Growth coaching sessions. It’s all a beautiful mix of opportunities, connections and collaborations – I never get bored!
How many projects are you currently working on? Please describe them
Currently, I am working on 4 projects –
the launch of my paper Make it Happen 2025 Journal/Planner because I still love pen and paper, and writing things down activates a different part of your brain
Planning for our Annual Conference, which will take place in March 2025 in Malaga Province
Planning Q1 events and schedule for our Business Growth Mastermind and how to support the members
We use Mighty Network for our Community App and a website. The website is currently going through an upgrade
In your opinion, who is the most influential person/company in the world of technology these days?
Sam Altman
If you could pick one app/product/project existing now that you wish you were involved in, what would it be?
Zoom made a huge difference in the lives of millions of people during 2020. We have been using it for about seven years to co-host events with other Women’s networks globally and, during 2020, hosted over 230 online events to support our community.
How do you see technology evolving in the next ten years?
Not even in 10 years; within 1 year, it won’t look anything like it does today. AI will have become embedded into every business. My thinking is that the limit is our imagination as to what we can use it with and for.
What would you like the industry to look like in ten years?
More community-focused. AI will change the landscape; however, I believe we will crave more 1- 2 -1 connection and collaboration. As more jobs become automated, this will give space for us to grow and develop, create, cultivate, and curate our lives. My hope is that we can spend more time working on passion projects and have the opportunity to rethink where we want to live, be, do, and have.
What are the three characteristics you have that make you successful in tech?
Curiosity, resilience, positive growth mindset
What is the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your career?
In 2000, on my first day of working in a new company, the Owner closed the UK office and decided everyone would work remotely. In those days, you had to live within 300 metres of the telephone exchange to get internet. Very few other people were working remotely, so there were few spaces to connect, collaborate and learn together. MSN Messenger was used to stay in touch with our Middle East office, as this was way before Skype or WhatsApp. It was a steep but wonderful learning curve, making me more resilient and able to explore and learn.
What is your most outstanding achievement up until today?
Creating Costa Women
What is your next goal?
I feel that a lot of changes are on the horizon for me (and the world of tech). So, I think I will be reshaping my world in 2025! My personal goal is to support 1000 women in growing sustainable businesses and themselves.
What are your tips for people wanting to start in the tech world?
Connect with people who are doing what you want to do, grab a virtual coffee with them, ask them questions, and formulate a plan to do it!
What would it be if you could say something to your younger self?
Its a very small fear
Which famous person would you like to have dinner with and why?
This is a very difficult question as there are so many. Some of them are characters in books! However, today, I would say Martha Stewart—she was the original influencer who learnt to bounce back.
Where would you like to travel next?
Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Do you have a person who influences or motivates you?
My husband, Patrick, motivates me to keep exploring and learning.
What did you dream of creating/inventing/doing as a child?
Being awarded Business Woman of the Year!
