Hoover HFX: the small, powerful and smart vacuum cleaner

Small and powerful, above all intelligent. This is the identikit of HFX, the latest cordless vacuum cleaner launched by Hoover for household cleaning. If size matters, this device is ideal for every type of home, especially for those who live in flats that are not too large, since the 62 centimetres it reaches when folded in two with a single movement halves its height (112 centimetres), allowing it to be stored in tight spaces.

A single gesture is also enough to discover this hoover’s trump card, which is the Corner Genie innovative nozzle, hidden inside the body and visible when you rest your foot on the stand used to detach the main brush. This is not a quirk to surprise users, but a useful accessory to optimise cleaning because it allows effortless manoeuvring and reaches hard-to-reach places, such as corners, cupboards and stairs. In this way, the device eliminates the need to insert the dedicated accessory and thus the associated waste of time.

What has been said so far helps to understand how Hoover wanted to create a functional product that requires the necessary cooperation of the user in order to make the best and complete use of the vacuum cleaner.

How it is made – Hoover HFX

20 centimetres wide and 25 centimetres deep for 3.65 kilos, HFX combines power, with Turbo mode, has a 360W brushless motor, a removable 4000 mAh battery with 30 minutes autonomy (which drops to 12 minutes by triggering Turbo), enough to clean a house of 3-4 rooms, recharging in 3.5 hours. In addition to the HEPA filter, which must be removed and washed at least once a month, there is the container positioned at the bottom to reduce the path of the dirt sucked in, which has a capacity of 1.2 litres. Thanks to No-Touch technology, the container automatically removes the dirt and hair stuck inside and avoids contact with dust during cleaning and maintenance of the device.

Useful for managing the cleaning session is the LED display that shows the remaining autonomy, charging time and warns in case of maintenance, while in addition to the button to switch the broom on and off, there are also the two buttons for standard and Turbo suction mode. Also worth mentioning is the LED light on the front of the main brush, already seen on models of other brands and useful for illuminating the amount of dirt in different rooms.

Why buy it

Available in two models Home and Pet, with the names clearly indicating the target of the respective versions, in both cases there is a double battery available for cleaning larger rooms. Cleaning is facilitated by the kit of accessories in the package, with the 2-in-1 brush, a mini turbo brush, the 60 cm flexible telescopic lance to reach the highest and most hidden places in the house, the support to fix the device to the wall (the hoover stands on its own) and the bag to collect the accessories.

Urban Black and Quartz Rose are the two colours of the Hoover HFX, a vacuum cleaner that met my (high) expectations by combining effectiveness and comfort. The ease of use, the presence of the Corner Genie and the design that simplifies and speeds up its handling are the most obvious strengths and the reasons why I can recommend its purchase. Also because Hoover offers a 5-year product warranty. However, HFX is not the cheapest electric broom on the market: prices start at €549 in Spain, €599 in France, €649 in Italy and £349 in the UK (in the latter case for the single-battery model).
