Summer is synonymous with holidays, hence music and parties. Whether one prefers the sea, the mountains, camping or cities of art, outdoor life brings more meetings and opportunities to spend days with friends. Therefore, learning more about the speakers most suitable for enjoying your favourite tunes can be interesting. In the following section, I will review five models that differ in size, power, technical specifications, and price, all of which have the capacity for good sound reproduction in common.
SumoBox Pro (CP-LS200) by Sharp
Pure power, just by sight, because it has imposing dimensions: 45.5 x 69 x 35 centimetres for a weight of just over 14 kg. When I took it out of the package I was stunned, but when I switched it on for the first time I was very surprised. With two 10″ woofers and two 3″ tweeters for a power output of 108 dB, I kept the volume to a minimum when listening at home, so as not to make the neighbours jump out of bed. Perfect with tracks that enhance bass, SumoBox Pro offers rich and detailed sound.
Equipped with IPX4 certification, it can be used outdoors and even poolside, as it is not afraid of light rain or splashing water. Also contributing to its wide range of use is its 8-hour autonomy, thanks to its rechargeable and removable 14.8 V 5 Ah lithium-ion battery. It has three input channels: TRS/XLR combo and Aux/Bluetooth. Also, it allows you to connect the keyboard, guitar, and microphone, and with Duo Mode, you can multiply the effect by connecting to a second SumoBox. It is operated via the Sharp Life app, which you can take anywhere. Price: €362.70.
Teufel Boomster AC/DC Edition
A special edition of Teufel’s basic model, now in its third generation, Boomster AC/DC, was created to celebrate the Australian band’s 50th anniversary on stage. It is a collector’s item and the perfect device to catch the eyes of onlookers thanks to the band’s logo on the front grille, while on the sides is the flash that has become the band’s symbol.
The ergonomic handle makes it easy to carry the speaker, which weighs 3.5 kg and has a battery capable of 18 hours of playback time. So it is almost certain to run out of power first! To remedy this, Teufel has included a USB socket with a power bank function to recharge the batteries of other devices. Note the retro-style telescopic antenna, the integrated subwoofer, the splash resistance and the ability to switch between DAB and FM radio. Price €369.99.
JBL PartyBox Stage 320
Another XL-sized speaker that is big in everything. It is the PartyBox Stage 320 by JBL, equipped with two 6.5″ woofers and as many 25mm dome tweeters, which together reproduce deep bass and crisp highs. Size (33.5 x 67 x 38.5 centimetres) and weight (16.5 kg) are not synonymous with compactness, but the advantage, on the other hand, is that the 240W makes itself felt.
The speaker is ideal for lighting up the party with its light effects, light trails, and strobe effects synchronised to the song’s rhythm, which can be thousands because the autonomy is around 18 hours, with a further two hours obtained with 10 minutes of charging. Made partly from recycled materials and equipped with a telescopic handle and wheels for easy transportation, the PartyBox Stage 320 is splashproof, connects to similar models via Auracast for a more powerful sound stage and has dual inputs for connecting microphones and musical instruments. Price: €599,99.
Everboom by Ultimate Ears
A portable loudspeaker that combines solidity and sound quality. This is how Ultimate Ears presented the new Everboom, a compact speaker measuring 1.1 x 8.5 x 2 centimetres and weighing less than 1 kg. It connects to smartphones, tablets and other devices via Bluetooth (there is also NFC) and has a range of 55 metres, while the rechargeable battery has a playback time of around 20 hours.
Perfect as a travel companion for excursions and boat trips, it has an oval design and different colours. It is waterproof and buoyant, and with the Outdoor Boost button, it amplifies the sound, optimising performance in outdoor environments. Included in the package is a carabiner to avoid losing it while travelling. Price: €289.
Panasonic SC-TMAX45
Dual is the watchword for Panasonic’s SC-TMAX45, which has two amplifiers with a dual cable connection, two 16 cm woofers and two 6.3 cm tweeters. The first clue reveals the quality of Panasonic’s newly launched Bluetooth speaker for enjoying parties, not only for listening to music, because it can also accompany live performances. From dinner in the garden to a pool party, any occasion is good to use: the 1000W power speaks for itself and makes you forget the 12 kg you must move to place it in the right place.
Light combinations are another useful element in creating the party mood because, via Multipoint, the speaker can be connected to two devices to switch between playlists without wasting time. A USB-A socket also functions as a power bank, a jack input for connecting guitar, drums or pianola, and a microphone. Price: €449.99.
