Anyone looking for a new smartphone should take advantage of Black Friday. While it is true that all brands offer daily promotions on their devices, the great thing about Black Friday 2024 is being able to choose the best smartphone at the best price. Because it’s the period when everyone is doing markdowns, you can find very good deals. Before looking at some tempting models, it is interesting to see how the Friday after Thanksgiving, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, is evolving.
Black Friday 2024
According to an analysis that European price comparator Idealo commissioned from Kantar, more than 70% of respondents consider Black Friday the ideal time to shop, also in anticipation of Christmas. More than half of people say they will only shop online, while 1 in 10 will only shop in physical shops. Among the five European markets analysed, Germany is where people will spend the most, with a budget of €317 per person; Austrians are intent on spending around €303 per person, while in Spain, the average spend is expected to be around €282. More distant are France and Italy, which are aligned in their spending trends with a personal quota of €265.
It is to be expected, to say the least, that a large part of the respective budgets described above will be invested in the purchase of a smartphone, an evergreen to give and receive as a gift. We know that there will be many promotions from the beginning of November until the week after Black Friday, so let’s look at the cheapest ones now to buy a new phone.
Samsung
Few but good offers to grab a top-of-the-range model from Samsung. At MediaWorld, there is the Galaxy Z Fold6, the folding flip-top, which in the 256GB version is on sale for €1,598. Available in Silver Shadow, Pink and Navy colours, it can be picked up at 16% off the standard price of €1,899. On Samsung’s website, there are plenty of discounted devices (washing machines, laptops, tablets, TVs and every other device the Korean company makes), but among those that interest us is the black 256GB Galaxy S24+, which until 19 November is offered at €1,189, a discount of €190.
Xiaomi
Another manufacturer that is always very wide of the mark when it comes to promotions is Xiaomi, which, until 18 November (then other offers will arrive during the week of Black Friday), is offering significant discounts on two newly launched models, but only if you buy from the mi.com online store. The first is the Xiaomi 14T Pro with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, discounted from €999 to €899 in Titan Black, Titan Blue, and Titan Gray colours.
The second is the foldable Mix Flip, in the 12GB+512GB model in two colours, Black and Purple, discounted from €1299.90 to €999.90. Also on promotion are the Redmi Note 13 Pro and Poco F6 Pro, both in the 512GB storage version: the former goes from €399.90 to €249.90, the latter from €629.90 to €439.90.
Nothing
Those who also want to stand out from the crowd in their choice of phone can go for the Nothing Phone (2a) and the Plus version, discounted for the occasion on Amazon. The standard model is offered by Nothing at €349 in the 12GB+256GB version, while for the same configuration as the Plus, you need €50 more.
Oppo & Motorola
Good deals can also be had with Oppo, which discounts the Oppo Reno 12 FS to €299.99 on its online store. Motorola has cut the prices of all its Moto G models, which are the least powerful in the catalogue but stand out for other features: one example is the Moto G84, equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, which has been reduced from €299.90 to €219.90.
