iPhone lovers, iPhone 14 is here

Apple presented the iPhone 14, its latest smartphone, which comes in two sizes, and satellite-based Emergency SOS.

During the “Far Out” event, CEO Tim Cook introduced three new products: AppleWatch, AirPods, and the iPhone14.

Cook emphasized that the secret is the harmonization and perfect coordination between the three devices: “each of them occupies a leading role in its category, but all together, they offer a magical experience.”

Apple’s latest smartphone comes in two sizes, the iPhone 14, which costs $799, and the iPhone 14 Plus, which costs $899. The big news is that the Mini version is coming to an end.

Pre-orders start from September 9, and on September 16, the most excepted smartphone will be available on the market. The iPhone 14 Plus will be available on October 7.

Powered by A16 Bionic, the fastest chip ever in a smartphone, iPhone 14 introduces a new class of pro camera system, with the first-ever 48MP Main camera on iPhone featuring a quad-pixel sensor and Photonic Engine. This enhanced image pipeline dramatically improves low-light photos.

Available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes, both models include a new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion that features the Always-On display for the first time on iPhone, enabled by a new 1Hz refresh rate and multiple power-efficient technologies.

“Our customers count on their iPhone every day, and with iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, we’re delivering more advancements than any other iPhone. iPhone 14 Pro introduces a camera system that empowers every user — from the casual user to the professional — to take their best photos and video, and innovative new technologies like the Always-On display and the Dynamic Island, which offer new interactions for notifications and activities,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Groundbreaking safety capabilities bring users even more security, offering help when they need it most. And with the incredibly powerful and efficient A16 Bionic chip and all-day battery life, this is the best iPhone yet.”

With Satellite-Based Emergency SOS

The lineup introduces groundbreaking safety capabilities that can provide emergency assistance.

Apple’s latest smartphones can now detect a severe car crash and automatically dial emergency services when a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone. The lineup also introduces Emergency SOS via satellite, combining custom components deeply integrated with software to allow antennas to connect directly to a satellite, enabling messaging with emergency services outside of cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.

Apple Removes SIM Card Tray

In the US market, the new iPhones will be released for the first time without a SIM card, which is replaced by the digital eSIM card that can be easily transferred to another device in case of theft or loss.

“eSIM allows users to connect or quickly transfer their existing plans digitally easily, is a more secure alternative to a physical SIM card, and allows for multiple cellular plans on a single device. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max remove the SIM tray for US models, enabling users to more quickly and easily set up their device,” the tech giant noted.

Introducing Apple Watch Ultra

Apple also unveiled three Apple Watches, including the Watch Ultra, designed for “exploration, adventure, and endurance.” It is intended for demanding athletes, extreme sports enthusiasts, and members of exploratory expeditions, according to the examples given by the company.

“Inspired by explorers and athletes from around the world, we created an entirely new category of Apple Watch designed for new and extreme environments — it’s the most rugged and capable Apple Watch yet,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “Apple Watch Ultra is a versatile tool that empowers users to push their boundaries with adventure, endurance, and exploration.”

The durable Ultra, waterproof to a depth of 50 meters, was equipped with a titanium case, a flat crystal to prevent damage and an “Action” button that can be activated even with gloves. It also has a more extended battery that lasts in big sports organizations.

The Next Generation of AirPods Pro

Also, Apple upgraded the AirPods Pro wireless earphones, which acquired a new amplifier. According to the company, they offer 6 hours of battery life and more effective noise cancellation. The headphones can also adapt to the shape of the face and ears for a more realistic listening experience.

“AirPods revolutionized the wireless headphone category with an innovative design and incredible sound quality. With the new AirPods Pro, Apple raises the bar again,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
