It’s Amazon Prime Day time! Hundreds of thousands of discounted products unleash a buying rush. It looks like the scene is triggered when there are sales in shopping malls; it is the same as during Amazon Prime Day. The initiative was born in 2015 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Seattle-based company that revolutionised online commerce to promote its fast delivery service, Prime. An appointment that millions of people circle in red on their calendars, on a par with Black Friday and Cyborg Monday, although in this case, the discounts are reserved only for Amazon Prime subscribers.
A subscription that goes far beyond the two days of offers, as it includes a long list of Amazon services. There is Prime Photos, free and unlimited, for storing images in the cloud; there is Prime Music for listening to more than 2 million songs in streaming (which is different from Amazon Music Unlimited, however); and there is, above all, Prime Video, which contends with Netflix and Disney for the palm of the most popular video streaming platform for users. In addition, there is also Twitch Prime for following the most popular streamers and Prime Reading for reading thousands of eBooks for free on Kindle Fire and other devices.
All the ways to Amazon Prime Day
In relation to Prime Day, however, the subscription ensures the possibility of buying discounted products, including lightning deals, which have a limited duration (usually a few hours), or other offers that are valid while stocks last (usually low). Therefore, many reasons to subscribe to Amazon Prime are, but even non-subscribers can participate in Prime Day. Just activate the service’s free trial, and you will find yourself selecting the products you are looking for, with the possibility of choosing whether or not to continue after the thirty-day trial to ensure deliveries within 24 hours and avoid paying shipping costs for orders.
Launched in previous years at very low prices, Amazon is gradually increasing the cost of the Prime subscription, available with an annual or monthly payment. In Italy and Spain, it costs €49.90 per month for a twelve-month subscription (or €4.99 per month); in France, the annual subscription costs €69.90, in Germany €89.90, and the United Kingdom £95 per year, while in the United States, where the list of services is long and constantly being updated, the price is $139. Those who pay the least, everywhere, are students whose cost for the annual plan starts at €24.95 after a 90-day free service trial.
Prime Day 2023 dates
This year Amazon has set Prime Day for 11 and 12 July, with promotions starting at midnight on the first day and ending at 11.59 pm on the second. It will therefore be 48 hours to grab some of the thousands of products on offer, some of which are already available. Last year on the Italian version of its site Amazon prioritised a series of brands representing Made in Italy, while this year, as always, in the days preceding the start of the offers, the spotlight is on devices produced by the US company itself.
As with the other eagerly awaited online discount events, Prime Day is an excellent opportunity to buy long-awaited devices and, more generally, provides an overview of accessories, computers, smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and headsets, as well as demotic and kitchen products, which every year prove to be the most sought-after and popular among shoppers.
First offers not to be missed
At the moment, some promotions have already been announced, which are only active once Prime Day kicks off. The PlayStation 5 Standard Edition is of interest, offered at €474.80 instead of €549.99 (-14%). Similar reductions for the Braun beard trimmer, hair clipper and razor kit, which fetches €69.72, are down 13% on the base price (€79.99). More significant discounts are expected on several Amazon-connected devices, such as the Ring Intercom, which, together with the fifth-generation Eco Dot, is offered at €51.99 (-73% from the initial €189.98).
Those looking for an outdoor security camera can look at Blink‘s two wireless models, which can be purchased for €44.99 and €136.99, in both cases -56% off the base price. Not on the same level of affordability, however, Xiaomi’s Smart Fire Tv F2 is also a good option: the 55-inch model is €399, €100 less than the initial cost. Finally, the proposal regarding the Amazon Eero Pro 6 mesh Wi-Fi router system is excellent, a home hub with coverage of up to 190 square metres at €113.97, almost 50% less than the launch price.
