Alessio Cazzaniga, Head of Av Marketing at Samsung Italy

From “AI for all” to greater customization of artificial intelligence solutions. During the 100th edition of IFA, which is underway in Berlin, a European fair for new technology, the Korean giant unveiled new products and its idea of AI being useful to the consumer. “For Samsung, artificial intelligence must improve everyday life, allowing users to personalize their entertainment experiences,” said Alessio Cazzaniga, Head of Av Marketing at Samsung Italy. “At IFA 2024, we launched the Premiere 7 and 9, Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 and 15-inch Galaxy Book4 Edge, all designed to help users focus on their interests and the people they share them with. As the manager reminds us, the company continues its mission to develop products and services that impact less on the environment. By 2050, 93 per cent of the Device eXperience division’s operations will come from renewable energy sources”.

Almost all product packaging is derived from recycled materials, and even devices such as remote controls now rely on reduced power consumption through solar or USB charging rather than consumable batteries as in the past. On the IFA stage, Samsung launched the Bespoke Ai Laundry Combo, a washer and dryer that aims to optimize space and the washing and drying cycle, once again relying on artificial intelligence and advice from algorithms to reduce energy and thus expenditure. “At the heart of Samsung’s ecosystem is the SmartThings platform, an app that today connects over 500 million devices, including third parties, through an open and shared protocol,” Cazzaniga concludes.

Samsung is building a brick-by-brick ecosystem whose stated goal is artificial intelligence within everyone’s reach, which is an intelligent system that is easy to use and responds to real consumer needs. Voice commands to interact with connected devices (improved thanks to the Bixby update, now capable of understanding multiple inputs in a single sentence and recalling the previous context to execute continuous commands), hybrid and combined functions of household appliances (some of which are now equipped with the automatic door-opening function) and technologies to manage the home’s energy consumption are just some of the components of this ecosystem, which has in the SmartThings platform and its app its operational brain and point of contact with the user.
