Verizon new voice service through Microsoft

Verizon Microsoft: Verizon is one of the largest digital technology companies in the world. It was first launched on June 30, 2000, in one of the largest mergers between Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp. This merger led to continuous development and penetration of other companies. The result is that today Verizon is one of the largest communications technology companies in the world. It offers daily solutions in digital technology to millions of customers.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of technology and its penetration in almost every field of science, Verizon is not left out. It contributes to the evolution and progress of technology.

One of the most recent developments in the field of telecommunications is the creation of Verizon Mobile. It has been established through a major agreement with Microsoft.

The Innovation of Verizon Mobile

The new idea in telecommunications is essential that the call service integrates into a digital application, Microsoft Teams. As we understand it, users are allowed to make calls through the Teams application, a built-in IP phone or directly through the Smartphone.

The service handles calls between networks and endpoints, including calls from a mobile network to VoIP data. As a result of this conversion, we can teleconference and share the screen through the Teams application.

VoIP

We may not have heard of VoIP telephony, but we may have used it without knowing it. Many popular applications such as Facebook Messenger, Microsoft Teams, Skype and Viber use this technology to make voice calls to users.

The term VoIP is the acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol (voice over IP) or in more common terms, Internet telephony, IP telephony and broadband telephony. Allows you to make and receive phone calls directly from a computer, telephone devices, and even from your mobile Internet. Also from different networks (3G / 4G / 5G) using the phone number you already have. An easy way to understand this is to think about it as follows:

a) Traditional telephone lines = Analogue way of communication

b) VoIP = Digital way of communication

VoIP telephony can offer a range of different features that your current telephone service may not have. It is essential for businesses that want to save money on their account and seek better quality service to their customers.

How does VoIP work?

For phone calls, the conversation is exchanged using small packets of data. The internet can send these packets all over the world in less than a second. The frequency required by IP technology for data transmission is at least 6 times lower than that of the traditional telecommunication networks used by most subscribers worldwide today. This significant difference makes VoIP calling significantly cheaper for users. In many cases, Internet calls can cost up to 90% cheaper than traditional telecommunications networking. To take advantage of VoIP technology, the subscriber needs an Internet connection, the appropriate equipment and of course, the provider of this service. We have the following 4 steps:

  • Your phone connects to the internet. When you call a phone number, your IP phone notifies your VoIP service provider to call the other party.
  • The VoIP service makes the call and exchanges packets of data from your IP phone.
  • Your VoIP phone converts these digital signals into audio that you can hear.
  • VoIP completely bypasses the telephone company. Wherever you are, an internet connection is enough to use VoIP telephony.

Microsoft Azure SBCs

According to Verizon Senior Product Manager Derek Peabody, the service uses a connection to Verizon’s exclusive border controllers (SBCs) on specific Microsoft Azure SBCs.

Specifically, the SBC SWe Lite is a Microsoft-certified Virtual Session Border Controller (SBC) designed to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with interoperability, security, and survival for integrated communications. SWe Lite is available for development in the Azure Marketplace as BYOL.

Verizon – Microsoft Update

According to the agreement between Verizon and Microsoft, Verizon Mobile will be available next year. The new service is based on a hybrid update model of Microsoft, and it is noteworthy that it includes other applications from Microsoft Office.
