Electreon Breaks World Record

Driving an Electric Vehicle for Over 100 Hours Non-Stop!

Electreon announced a new world record for the longest time and distance ever driven (non-stop) by a passenger Electric Vehicle (EV). During their 100-hour demonstration a few days ago, a Toyota Rav4 covered an impressive 1,942 km (1,206 miles) using Electreon’s proprietary Wireless Electric Road technology.

This milestone proves that Electreon’s wireless charging technology effectively addresses two key challenges in the EV transition: range anxiety and battery size. It eliminates range anxiety enabling an endless drive, demonstrating that even a compact 18 kWh battery size is no longer a limiting factor in EV adoption.

The Electreon team expected to drive around 1,500 km (approximately 932 miles) in their 5-day driving rally. However, they successfully completed the demonstration with 33% more driven kilometres.

Reuven Rivlin, the honorary company President and former President of Israel, expressed his delight with the demonstration’s results. He stated, “The objective of this 100-hour non-stop driving rally was to demonstrate the unlimited technical potential of Wireless Electric Road technology to power EVs to drive indefinitely with a minimal battery. I am delighted to share that Electreon’s technology and the team behind it exceeded expectations. This is yet another clear signal that our Wireless Electric Road technology is ready for large-scale commercial projects globally.”

Over the course of the 100-hour straight driving rally, a total of 56 drivers, including 48 members of the Electreon team and Israeli racing driver Bar Baruch, participated in the effort. The driving relay continued without pause as drivers switched seamlessly without turning off the engine or experiencing dedicated charging downtime. According to Electron, the Toyota Rav4-Phev, equipped with a lightweight 18 kWh battery, remained continuously charged by the Electron Electric Road, ensuring it was never fully discharged throughout the demonstration.

The demo track, spanning 200 meters, showcased the remarkable potential of Electreon’s wireless charging system. Even with only 25% of the track electrified, the Wireless Electric Road provided an endless range for any electric vehicle, accommodating small passenger vehicles and large e-trucks alike. Moreover, this charging platform is battery-technology agnostic, offering the advantage of extended, if not unlimited, range while reducing the total cost of EV ownership and environmental impact.

By covering nearly 2,000 km, Electreon’s wireless EV charging technology has increased the range at least 26 times more than the current real-world maximum range limits of vehicles equipped with an 18 kWh battery. Israel’s Chief Transportation Scientist, Dr Shai Soffer, praised the industry-changing technology and emphasized the importance of public-private cooperation for global societal benefits.

The Futur of Charging Roads is Here to Come

While this achievement marks Electreon’s first public world record, the company has been operational for several years, successfully implementing projects across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Electreon will install its award-winning wireless charging technology in downtown Detroit, MI, USA, this summer after this groundbreaking demonstration. The city’s selection as the site for the USA’s first electric-vehicle charging road further solidifies Detroit’s reputation as the Motor City for the modern age.

Electreon’s wireless charging solutions have garnered worldwide recognition and support from industry leaders and decision-makers. The company’s revenue target of 102 million for 2023-2024 demonstrates its growing momentum and the increasing acceptance of wireless charging technology.

Electreon recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Toyota and Denso, facilitating the joint development of a wireless charging kit for various vehicle manufacturers and accelerating this groundbreaking technology’s global distribution and adoption.

With its successful fundraising efforts, including a private placement of shares and options, Electreon aims to compete in a tender to construct a 42-kilometre electric road in Sweden. This further establishes the company’s position as a key player in the electrification revolution, propelling wireless charging infrastructure to new heights.

Electreon’s commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation solutions has positioned the company at the forefront of the EV revolution. As Electreon moves from vision to reality, the future of electric mobility looks brighter than ever.
