The presidential race of the future will be decided by AI

USA 2024, Republicans draw the disasters of a possible Biden-bis with artificial intelligence

Presidential race decided by AI: ‘He is disconnected from reality’, ‘He will be sent home’, ‘If he is elected, American citizens will be worse off’. These are just some of the attacks launched by the Republican Party and directed at US President Joe Biden after announcing his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. However, they do not seem to be enough: the Grand Old Party has, in fact, entrusted its (umpteenth) reaction to Biden’s run for the White House to a video created with artificial intelligence. It is, points out a GOP spokesman to Axios, the first time the Republican National Committee has produced content with 100 per cent Ai software.

The film, which is about 30 seconds long, opens with the (probably) post-vote celebrations of the US president himself, together with his deputy, Kamala Harris, who Tuesday, 25 April – confirmed her ticket race with Biden. And, finally, the dystopian version of the future if both were re-elected, complete with national and international crises, destroyed cities and explosions. In a statement accompanying the video – explains the American newspaper – the president of the NRC, Ronna McDaniel, also stated that the Republican party is united in the quest to defeat Biden in 2024 and that Americans ‘are counting the days until Biden is sent home’.

‘Time to finish the job’. With a video on Twitter – launched exactly four years after his candidacy on 25 April 2019 – US President Joe Biden announced that he will run in the 2024 presidential elections seeking a second term in order to ‘finish the job’ he started during this presidency. The message spread by Biden is one of continuity with respect to the path taken so far, characterized by the fight for democracy and the defense of rights, threatened by the vision of Donald Trump and his affiliates, which he risks facing again at the ballot box.

But suppose Biden seems to have no rivals on the Democratic side. In that case, the same cannot be said of the tycoon: UN ambassador Nikki Haley has made her candidacy official and, above all, it is only a matter of time before the ultra-conservative Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, makes his run for the White House official. Considered by analysts to be the rising star of the American right, DeSantis could give first Trump and then Biden a run for their money. The current president is indifferent to criticism of his advanced age, which has not gone unnoticed by commentators and US citizens. At the time of the election, in fact, Biden will be 81 years old and, at the end of his second term, he will be 86. To date, Biden is already the oldest president the United States has ever had.

The video response of the Republicans

The Republican National Committee wasted no time and responded to Joe Biden’s announcement with a post-apocalyptic-style video that was 100% generated by artificial intelligence for the first time. It asks viewers to ponder “what would happen if” Biden, the “worst president we’ve ever had,” stayed in office for a second term. The consequences would be catastrophic: national and international crises, a collapsing economy, cities destroyed by riots and crime. In a statement accompanying the video, NRC President Ronna McDaniel said that the Republican Party is united in the quest to defeat Biden in 2024 and that Americans ‘are counting the days until Biden is sent home’.

If voters allow the current US president “to ‘finish the job,’ inflation will continue to soar, crime will increase, more fentanyl will cross our open borders, children will remain marginalized, and American families will find themselves worse off,” the memo reads. Donald Trump issued a lengthy statement in response to Biden’s new candidacy, which begins with these lines: ‘You could take the five worst presidents in American history and put them together, and they wouldn’t have done the damage that Joe Biden has done to our nation in just a few years. Not even close.”
