The highly anticipated stable One UI 7, based on Android 15, has now rolled out finally, bringing with it a slew of improvements and new features for Samsung Galaxy smartphone users. The rollout started in South Korea, as per the timeline announced by the company back in March and initially included flagship models like the Galaxy S24. It was later extended to other high-end variants such as Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 and Z Fold Special Edition. Global distribution has been phased, first to the beta rollout participants. This was followed in South Korea, where the launch took place on 10 April in the United States and Europe, 11 April in Canada, and 14 April in Malaysia.

Samsung has planned to release One UI 7 in April 2025 for these devices: Galaxy S24/S24+/S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S10+/S10 Ultra, Galaxy S23/S23+/S23 Ultra, Galaxy S24 FE. Samsung planned to release One UI 7 in May 2025 for these devices: Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Tab S9/S9+/S9 Ultra, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy A34, Galaxy A35, Galaxy S22/S22+/S22 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S8/S8+/S8 Ultra, Galaxy S21/S21+/S21 Ultra, Galaxy A16. In June it will be the turn of the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy FE/S9 FE+, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A33, Galaxy A25, Galaxy A24, Galaxy A15, Galaxy Tab A9/A9+, Galaxy Tab Active 5, Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro.
OneUI 7: the main new features
One UI 7 introduces several innovative features and improvements that redefine the user experience. Now Bar and Now Brief: display essential information directly on the lock screen. Writing Assist: Improved rewriting and summarising text in any application. AI Select: offers intelligent contextual actions, such as creating GIFs from videos. Drawing Assist: combines text prompts and sketches for graphical creations. Audio Eraser: eliminates unwanted noise in videos. In addition, the interface has been completely redesigned with new icons, an updated Quick Panel and more customisable notifications. Improvements have also been made to application performance and security.
Highlights include a revamped user interface with smoother animations and uniform design, along with new icons, a completely redesigned Quick Settings Panel, and more lock screen customisations. Artificial intelligence takes centre stage with the addition of Galaxy AI, which introduces features such as creating customised stickers using the keyboard or hand sketches, an enhanced handwriting assistant for grammar and style correction, call recording transcription and summary, and enhanced photo and video editing features, such as the Audio Eraser to eliminate background noise.

Widgets and security
Another interesting new feature is the widgets, which have become more central with an optimised experience and new customisation options in terms of shape, size, transparency, and background. Battery management has been improved with new power-saving options and the ability to set customised maximum charge limits. On the security front, One UI 7 introduces Stolen Device Protection, which locks the screen in case of theft or network loss and requires biometric authentication for changes to sensitive settings.
The Camera app features a reorganised interface for faster access to different modes and functions, while the Weather app has been enhanced with new information and a revamped design. The user experience has been further improved with smarter search in Settings thanks to natural language processing and the ability to add boarding passes to Samsung Wallet directly from Samsung Internet.
