Meet the talent: Romano Armento, Music Programmer

Name: Romano Armento

Place of residence: Paris

Position: Music programmer and VIP Tour Guide at Disneyland Paris

Please describe a day in your life:

Waking up at 7am and get ready to take my 5-year-old daughter to school, walk my wonderful husky dog around 9am, take care of personal business until around noon, then leave to work for my 1 to 10pm shift.

How many projects are you currently working on? Please describe them:

I am not really working on projects, just enjoying the balance I finally took to my life.

I create playlists for Disney Village Radio and, every now and then, give private VIP tours.

In your opinion, who is the most influential person/company in the world of technology these days?

I have never been an “Apple” consumer; my favourite brand is Samsung, and all tech, including phones, screens, audio, etc. I like it for its versatility. I am kinda curious about AI, humanity next, and maybe the final technological step.

If you could pick one app/product/project existing now that you wish you were involved in, what would it be?

The movie making screen stage “The Volume”, patented by ILM. The Sphere Theatre in Las Vegas and any kind of high-tech entertainment involving immersion and high resolutions.

How do you see technology evolving in the next ten years?

AI is the future right before our eyes. Everything is going to be equipped with it.

What would you like the industry to look like in ten years?

More affordable of course but less Social Media involved. I’d like to take my eyes off the screens every now and then and enjoy real life.

What are the three characteristics you have that make you successful?

Being smart enough to take advantage of every situation without bothering anyone.

What is the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your career?

Dealing with people with no arguments.

What is your greatest achievement up until today?

Saying LOOK AT ME NOW to people who told me YOU CAN’T MAKE IT

What do you wish yourself with respect to your career?

To keep it the way it is, peace of mind, a little more money and no big dramas.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully, at the same point, but even more satisfied.

What is your next goal?

A goal not written down is only a wish. I have a fully booked summer, planning to travel a lot and see friends around the world until September, then I will see from then on.

What do non-tech people around you (family, friends) think you do?

Magic.

Which famous person would you like to have dinner with and why?

My personal God On Earth, Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, and football player Alessandro Del Piero, childhood hero never met in real life.

Do you have a person who influences or motivates you?

Actor Norman Reedus, who had lots of experiences in arts and travels, and old rock stars still alive today as The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, etc.

What did you dream of creating/inventing/doing as a child?

Live Web Chat: I remember when the first PCs arrived in our houses, and I pretended I could write messages to my friends, and they could read and answer back.

And 3D TV screens.

Antonino Caffo has been involved in journalism, particularly technology, for fifteen years. He is interested in topics related to the world of IT security but also consumer electronics. Antonino writes for the most important Italian generalist and trade publications. You can see him, sometimes, on television explaining how technology works, which is not as trivial for everyone as it seems.
