Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro: is not Apple, but the road is right

A household name in the wearable technology market these days, Huawei has brought its Watch Fit 4 into the world marketplace. The watch comes in basic and Pro versions, and it promises to carve out a new plough in the smartwatch market, coming not only as a new technological product but as an actual life companion for today’s user. Huawei has left no stone unturned to create a total user experience wherein design, functionality and performance converge in mutual accord.

What it’s like

The emphasis on design and good looks is apparent at first glance. Huawei understood that one needed to make a device that wasn’t only practical but also pleasing to the eye and hold on your wrist. The Pro model feels upscale, with good materials like sapphire glass and titanium alloy utilised, which give the device a substantial but refined feel. The choice of these materials is no accident: sapphire glass delivers greater scratch resistance, while titanium alloy delivers lightness and strength. But it is the screen that jumps first into view.

Huawei has equipped the series with a 1.82-inch Amoled screen, which surpasses others in terms of sharpness and brightness. The base model achieves 2000 nits peak brightness, while the Pro achieves 3000 nits, a number that ensures visibility under direct sunlight. This is a feature essential for outdoor sports enthusiasts who must view their training data no matter what.

Power under the shell

The Watch Fit Pro is not merely a matter of appearance. Huawei has also built a range of cutting-edge health and fitness monitoring features into the product. Huawei’s TruSense system is quite literally a heartbeat in this regard, promising improved measurement of such critical parameters as heart rate, blood oxygenation, ECG and arrhythmia risk. The ECG is an excellent feature, allowing the user to conduct an electrocardiogram on the wrist and gain a fuller understanding of the state of the heart.

This advanced technology combines for the first time the detection of vital parameters from both the wrist and fingertip, exploiting different types of signals (optical, electrical, acoustic and mechanical) to offer a much more accurate and comprehensive reading of physiological data. Thanks to this combination, the system can overcome the limitations of traditional sensors by exploiting more sensitive body points such as the fingers, where the skin is thinner and the vascular network denser, minimising external interference.

Sleep tracking is also an area where many efforts have been made. The new “Sleep Breathing Awareness” feature can detect sleep breathing interruptions and provide the user with crucial information regarding the quality of sleep and allow them to identify any issues. In addition, it is also able to track heart rate variability (Hrv), an important indicator of physical and mental stress. Specifically, there is a barometer, a speakerphone, and a mic for answering and calling, as well as a line of extremely interesting dials, some with adjustable widgets, which mirror those of the telephone.

360-degree sport

And then there’s sports enthusiasts. Fit 4 Pro boasts numerous training modes and intelligent features to boot. Huawei Sunflower positioning system, for example, makes it possible to track movement more accurately, which is crucial in outdoor activities such as running, cycling or hiking. Its atmospheric pressure sensor makes it possible to measure elevation and change in elevation accurately, useful data for mountain sports enthusiasts. Its most intriguing new feature is the functionality dedicated to water sports. The watch logs a variety of activities, providing specific data on speed, distance travelled, heart rate and other relevant measurements. Such an amenity opens new avenues for swimmers, sailors, rowers and other water sportsmen.

Finally, battery life is a crucial piece of kit on any Huawei wearable. 7 to 10 days of use, depending on activities, with a mere 60 minutes of charge time from zero to one hundred percent. Long compatibility with both Android and iOS and a price of 279 euros before some promotions on release.
