Honor Magic7 Pro: It was a tough challenge because getting in between the two brands that have dominated the top end of the smartphone market for years seems to be a mission impossible for almost anyone. Huawei had managed to put a spoke in the wheels of Apple and Samsung, but after the American ban, no other manufacturer managed to take its place. However, it is precisely the Chinese companies that have played interesting cards to win the interest of those who spend over a thousand euros on a phone.
This is not to say that the top-of-the-range models of Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus are not up to scratch; on the contrary, they are great performers with few or no weak points. It is the ecosystem and status of Apple and Samsung that makes the difference. However, technology thrives on challenges, and so now, attempting the impossible Honor, which has launched the Magic7 Pro with big plans for Europe.
‘This is a huge and very stimulating market, in which we want to impose ourselves and in which we are investing, as demonstrated by our first research and development centre that we have opened in Paris,’ said Tony Dan, president of Honor Europe, which in the medium to long term aims to make the Old Continent a kind of second domestic market after China, where competition between home companies is very high and innovation travels fast.
Two strengths: photography and AI
In this sense, the data that Honor released on the phone’s sales in the 48 hours after launch is interesting. The Magic7 Pro recorded a 76% increase in European markets compared to last year’s sales of the Magic6 Pro. It remains to be seen how the flow of sales will evolve, but it is a good sign and also the result of Honor’s advertising activism. In order to have good feedback, it must continue to make itself known and broaden the potential target other than young people interested in its devices.
A first visual impact is enough to realise how photography has been the priority on which the Asian brand has developed the new smartphone. The habit of confirming the design of high-end models in order to convey a certain style and recognisable mark to the user can be seen in the camera block ring on the back of the Magic7 Pro. The main camera has 50 megapixels, OIS stabilisation and a 1.4 focal aperture; the ultra-wide-angle camera has a 50 MP sensor, 122° field of view and an active 2.5-centimetre macro mode; the telephoto camera has 200 MP, OIS stabilisation, 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom, while the front camera has a 50 MP sensor and records in 4K. The quality of the shots is very good, with images in brighter settings being preferred, but the usual AI takes care of everything.
Honor Magic7 Pro
Honor has put a lot of work into integrating AI features with the cameras, as evidenced by the AI Enhanced portraits, or the Super Zoom that uses GenAI to reconstruct details in photos where enlargements go beyond 30x. Ensuring optimal results is achieved by collaborating with three models that work in hybrid mode using cloud and device: Capture Enhancement Large Model, Light and Shadow Portrait Large Model, and Telephoto Enhancement Large Model.

Unbreakable phone
Already since last year, smartphones have been designed to bring out the potential of AI, a trend exacerbated by the first models to appear this year, such as the OnePlus 13 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Not to be outdone is the Honor Magic7 Pro, which, from navigating apps and searching for information to translating and summarising data, interviews or meetings, involves continuous use of AI. Again, there is AI Deepfake, an important addition because the analysis of video calls helps us understand whether we have a friendly face in front of us or a person recreated by AI to fool us.
The other aspect highlighted by Honor is the phone’s resistance, which, thanks to the NanoCrystal Shield display, does not fear falls up to two metres high. But not even in extreme temperatures, because whether you are in a desert or freezing water, the Magic7 Pro remains indestructible. Words help, but actions fix certain concepts in your head, so Honor wanted to show the phone’s ability to withstand even the passage of a 400 kg quad bike. Showing dents only to give way after the fourth attempt.
Equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the smartphone has a 5,270mAh battery, with fast charging at 100W and wireless charging at 80W. Available in Lunar Shadow Grey, Breeze Blue and Black colours, the Honor Magic7 Pro goes on sale for €1299. This is no longer an absurd figure, as high-end models cost this much. Instead, it is a question of whether this could be the phone that meets one’s needs. If it is about photography, AI and endurance, then it is the right choice.
